December 03, 2018 The Importance of DW-MRI and Longitudinal Impact of Cerebral Ischemic Lesions
John Forrest
Summary
- MRI lesions are very frequent after TAVR and are associated with increased risk of clinically evident Stroke.
- There is mounting evidence that MRI lesions are associated with delayed problems with cognition (including 2- 4x risk of cognitive decline, dementia, and risk of future stroke).
- Further research into effects of MRI on long-term cognition are needed and are underway.
